Information Rumspringa

Hey, KOE is still out there. Don’t get overwhelmed.

If you’re not a patron… well, then. That’s fine. This week we’re totally dad-pilled, but if you want something lighter we also talk about Shang- Chi, Eternals, and movies some of us think are going to fail [Dune].

give us money!

And hey look! Star Trek Content! For free! On Under the Bridge we’re covering Star Trek: Lower Decks, and realizing how it’s doing the work of television well in a way that the higher profile shows could probably learn something from. Characters that have meaningful and believable arcs? On a dumb reference cartoon?!

A Finder’s Guide to the films of David Lynch

So you want to listen along to Kickers of Elves on Lynch but haven’t watched the movies yet? We got you covered.

Where does one find all these films anyway? Turns out it’s not an easy answer. The streaming rights seem to be spread all over the place, if there are any in place at all. We talk about this some in the podcast episodes-
I’m not listening to the episode because I haven’t seen the movie yet, asshole!
Oh right. Of course. I’ll detail below where we watched each film and maybe how you could do the same. Some of these are hard to find. The number one option I’d put here is CHECK OUT YOUR LOCAL LIBRARY. Blockbuster and the neighborhood video store are dead, but turns out libraries have a lot of that shit available for free. And interlibrary loans are a thing so you might stand good odds of finding things there if you live in the right place. And this is the only way to do it for free… unless you’re a bad sinful person and willing to go to the high seas [Some of you know what I mean. Those that don’t… don’t worry about it.]

Anyways, here’s how we watched the films of David Lynch for the podcast:

Throwing Out the Rules, Kickers of Elves on Lynch is Next

Big changes are coming to The Rules of Acquisition Podcast. For one, we’re changing the name. We’re done with DS9, so the RoA is done with us. From here on out “Kickers of Elves” is going to delve deep on a variety of subjects. So tell your pretentious friends who don’t care about Star Trek that we’re covering all the films of David Lynch and then Twin Peaks. And then what? Who knows? We’ve gone mad with power and the availability of microphones and easy distribution.

Listen to the note above for more info, check out the patreon for regular content, and keep checking this site/feed for updates.

Disco Home, GTFO

So maybe you read the post below about how we had nice things to say about Star Trek: Discovery?

Forget all that.

If you haven’t been keeping up, Star Trek Resignation has been Discovery Home Companion-ing all through season three and it’s all finally over. Check out the final episode below. That’s it. The pod is over! At least until we possibly let Glen Status Report all over us.

Podchaser - Can't Picardly Wait: A Star Trek Picard Podcast

We haven’t quit. Promise!

Missing us? We didn’t go anywhere. If you’re on the patreon anyway. The Rules of Acquisition has been quiet. But hey, covid time is rough isn’t it?

Wade, James, and Hugh are still active over at the patreon where we’re mostly talking about things other than Star Trek. For instance. Something happened this week? And Aziz Ansari? Huh?

Star Trek Resignation has slowed down, but don’t worry, we’re still resigned to doing A Discovery Home Companion. Promise.

Disco Home Returns

A Discovery Home Companion has returned from being cancelled. We ain’t no Garrison Keeler or Jeffrey Toobin!

But wait what is going on here? Wade, Glen and Sean have watched the season three opener, and… have overall positive things to say about Star Trek Discovery? What the…

For everyone who thought we don’t know a good time and were gonna hate on Disco no matter what: Hey, if they make a good show we’ll say so!

But hey, we’re not total fanboys yet. WE GOT SOME NOTES.

and yes, Status Report is still a thing.

Take me to the place I love…

This season of Lower Decks is over, which means it’s time to retire “Under the Bridge.” No overdoses are expected, but then there’s always Star Trek: Discovery coming up, so who knows if we’ll get a killer dose of Trek or not.

In the final podcast of the season, we finally get the show we wanted, and realize which of us is the Boimler and who is the Mariner style “agent of chaos.”

Catch up on all the episodes this season, and be on the lookout for what’s next for Star Trek Resignation. It might not be all that long of a wait!

Under the Bridge

If you’re caught up on Lower Decks or not, it’s a great time to jump on Under the Bridge. For the first time in over five years of being in the other room from Wade, Joanie Baczewski joins to give more opinions on Star Trek from someone who doesn’t really know much about Star Trek. The episode after that also dropped this week and is pretty fun.

Wade’s love interest guests on the podcast!

I hope you’re up on your netflix sketch shows:
