Did you catch the latest episode of DS9? No? You’re not caught up on Star Trek: Lower Decks? The Station, Quark, Kira, and some gamma quadrant aliens all showed up. Time to pull the RoA out of the box and dust it off.
Living with Trauma, Wade, Glen, and Sean are evaluating their relationship to Star Trek: Discovery and making the changes needed to solve the problem of how to podcast about it.
Is season 4 the best the show has ever been? What does that even mean?
Wade has another baby and the podcast just goes off the grid, huh? There’s plenty going on at the KoE patreon for a weekly fix. You can hear some of that on the Kickers of Elves main feed. In the meantime, enjoy this discussion we had about the new Matrix movie, Tenet, and what we think about some things going on.
Also new things are coming round soon on Star Trek Resignation with Wade, Glen and Sean.
Check out Kickers of Elves on Patreon, where twice this week we try to get to the bottom of some of the current idiocy. Parents Just Don't Understand. because… Information Rumspringa? https://t.co/dKUJAXfDzPpic.twitter.com/n3mhfPbiyc
And hey look! Star Trek Content! For free! On Under the Bridge we’re covering Star Trek: Lower Decks, and realizing how it’s doing the work of television well in a way that the higher profile shows could probably learn something from. Characters that have meaningful and believable arcs? On a dumb reference cartoon?!
So you want to listen along to Kickers of Elves on Lynch but haven’t watched the movies yet? We got you covered.
Where does one find all these films anyway? Turns out it’s not an easy answer. The streaming rights seem to be spread all over the place, if there are any in place at all. We talk about this some in the podcast episodes- –I’m not listening to the episode because I haven’t seen the movie yet, asshole!– Oh right. Of course. I’ll detail below where we watched each film and maybe how you could do the same. Some of these are hard to find. The number one option I’d put here is CHECK OUT YOUR LOCAL LIBRARY. Blockbuster and the neighborhood video store are dead, but turns out libraries have a lot of that shit available for free. And interlibrary loans are a thing so you might stand good odds of finding things there if you live in the right place. And this is the only way to do it for free… unless you’re a bad sinful person and willing to go to the high seas [Some of you know what I mean. Those that don’t… don’t worry about it.]
Anyways, here’s how we watched the films of David Lynch for the podcast:
The next phase of the podcast has begun! All of our series on the films of David Lynch are now available to listen to in any order that you wish. Except Fire Walk with Me. You’ll have to wait til we drop the next batch of episodes for that. Because Twin Peaks.
Big changes are coming to The Rules of Acquisition Podcast. For one, we’re changing the name. We’re done with DS9, so the RoA is done with us. From here on out “Kickers of Elves” is going to delve deep on a variety of subjects. So tell your pretentious friends who don’t care about Star Trek that we’re covering all the films of David Lynch and then Twin Peaks. And then what? Who knows? We’ve gone mad with power and the availability of microphones and easy distribution.
Listen to the note above for more info, check out the patreon for regular content, and keep checking this site/feed for updates.
So maybe you read the post below about how we had nice things to say about Star Trek: Discovery? … Forget all that.
If you haven’t been keeping up, Star Trek Resignation has been Discovery Home Companion-ing all through season three and it’s all finally over. Check out the final episode below. That’s it. The pod is over! At least until we possibly let Glen Status Report all over us.
Missing us? We didn’t go anywhere. If you’re on the patreon anyway. The Rules of Acquisition has been quiet. But hey, covid time is rough isn’t it?
Wade, James, and Hugh are still active over at the patreon where we’re mostly talking about things other than Star Trek. For instance. Something happened this week? And Aziz Ansari? Huh?
